OpenCost is a new open source project that provides real-time cost monitoring for teams running Kubernetes workloads.

OpenCost, which is specifically aimed at DevOps and engineering teams, “seeks to develop a common standard — enabling teams using Kubernetes to operate with a single model for measuring and managing cost across all of their environments,” according to Alex Thilen in a guest post on the SUSE website.

The vendor-neutral project has been submitted for review as a sandbox project to the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF).
