The open source pa.sh tool looks for sections of code that can run independently, then runs them in parallel to save time, says Sandra Henry-Stocker. 

“For complex scripts that can benefit from parallelization, pa.sh can make a tremendous difference in how long they take to run,” Henry-Stocker says. The tool and sample code are available at GitHub.
