AWS has announced the newest version of its cloud-optimized Linux distribution. According to the GitHub page, Amazon Linux 2023 “provides a stable, and high-performance execution environment to develop and run cloud applications.”

Starting with AL2023, Amazon Linux also comes with five years of long-term support — consisting of standard support for two years and maintenance for three. Customers can expect new releases every two years.
