AFIBER is looking for a hands-on Optical Network Engineer who is eager to grow into a specialist in high-performance network solutions. In this role, you’ll contribute directly to the digital backbone that connects millions of people and organizations every day to what matters most: data, communication, and continuity.

You’ll design, operate, and optimize connections that truly make a difference, from livestreams for national media, to cloud links for global enterprises, and secure data flows between regional hospitals and their data centers. You’ll work with technologies like DWDM, Ethernet, and Dark Fiber, in an environment where speed, reliability, and scalability are key. Our clients, including RTL, Liberty Global, OpenFiber, and Zayo Europe, rely on our infrastructure for everything from high-resolution broadcasts to real-time healthcare and industrial applications.

Your Role

  • Deploy new network connections (Dark Fiber, DWDM, Ethernet)
  • Configure, test, and manage optical network paths and equipment
  • Analyze and resolve network incidents together with senior engineers
  • Support the network architect on innovation and implementation
  • Operate and maintain equipment across multiple datacenter locations (Juniper / ECI Telecom)
  • Collaborate on-site with customers, suppliers, and partners on delivery and procurement

Your Profile

  • MBO+ or bachelor-level technical education
  • 2–8 years of experience in networking (Ethernet, IP, VLANs, BGP, OSPF)
  • Experience with optical transport networks (OTN) is a plus
  • Familiarity with Linux and virtualization (CentOS, KVM/QEMU) is a plus
  • Curious, self-starting, solution-oriented, and communicative
  • Customer-focused mindset with a strong sense of ownership
  • Fluent in English
  • Possession of a valid driving license (B)
