From November 27 to December 14, 2025, the 27th edition of the IHF Women’s Handball World Championship will take place at Rotterdam Ahoy. Behind the scenes, AFIBER plays a crucial role. In collaboration with Mobilelinks, AFIBER delivers the high-performance transport network that ensures live video streams from the matches are transmitted quickly and reliably to the Mobilelinks network. This enables millions of viewers to uninterrupted enjoy the 2025 Handball World Championship live. .
Mobile Links Europe is a leading specialist in broadcast connectivity and transmission. The company offers a broad range of services including satellite connections, fiber infrastructure, and SNG trucks. With years of experience, state-of-the-art equipment, and a network of strategically positioned Points of Presence (PoPs), Mobilelinks is a reliable partner for large-scale live productions. In this way, the company supports broadcasters, media organizations, and event producers with delivering stable and secure livestreams, ensuring that audiences can enjoy their favorite sports and news programs without interruption. Including this year’s Handball World Championship 2025, for which Mobilelinks was commissioned by broadcaster TV2 Denmark to provide the international connectivity.
AFIBER connects production and distribution
AFIBER has been managing the Dutch network of Mobilelinks for many years, providing a geographically separated private transport ring between several locations in Hilversum and Amsterdam. Through this network, Mobilelinks supports clients such as Viaplay, the broadcaster of events like Formula 1, international football matches, and major darts tournaments.
For the 2025 Handball World Championship, AFIBER once again provides a vital link in this infrastructure. The media streams generated at Rotterdam Ahoy, are transmitted by the AFIBER network to the PoP of Mobile Links in Amsterdam.
How the World Championship reaches European living rooms
From there, the Mobilelinks network transports the media traffic to its nodes in Denmark and Sweden, where they are handed over to the broadcasters for production and distribution. For TV2 Denmark, Mobilelinks deploys its Net Insight Nimbra equipment, a cloud platform for content and media transport. Through this platform, additional capacity can be delivered directly over Mobilelinks’ network to TV2 Denmark’s production facility in Odense, Denmark.
At the broadcaster’s production facilities, the media streams are used to build the programs. These can include commentary in the local language, in-studio analysis and interviews, or additional reports regarding the event. Once these content components are integrated into the program and ready for release, it is distributed to viewers, so the program can be consumed on the viewer’s screen of preference.
Andreas Langell, CEO Mobilelinks:
