The recently launched UK Digital Strategy aims to “grow the economy and create more high-skilled, high wage jobs by cementing the UK as a global tech superpower.”

According to the announcement, the plan aims to “bring cross-government tech and digital policies together in one unified roadmap.”

The plan lists the following six main areas as essential for sustained digital growth:

  • Infrastructure
  • Ideas and intellectual property
  • Skills and talent
  • Financing digital growth
  • A nationwide approach
  • Global leadership

In terms of skills and talent, the plan is focused on strengthening the tech talent pipeline “at every stage from school to lifelong learning.” Overall, it is hoped the plan “will lead to new jobs, skills, and services that benefit and level up the whole of the UK.”
