Google has announced version 1 of its open source quantum programming framework: Cirq

According to the Google blog, “Cirq is a Python framework for writing, running, and analyzing the results of quantum computer programs,” and it functions as “the lingua franca” for writing programs to run on Google’s quantum computing hardware.

“Cirq provides useful abstractions for dealing with today’s noisy intermediate-scale quantum computers, where details of the hardware are vital to achieving state-of-the-art results,” the Cirq website says.

The website also provides a tutorial for learning Cirq basics, including understanding the difference between gates and operations and how to build circuits out of moments.
