Leaders from GNOME and KDE are building an app store on top of Flatpak — a Linux software deployment and package management program, reports Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols.
“Flathub is a vendor-neutral service for Linux application developers to build and publish their applications directly to their end users,” the founders say, and Linux users “can use Flathub to gain access to a growing collection of Flatpak applications.”
Flathub now offers more than 2,000 apps from 1,500 GitHub collaborators, notes Vaughan-Nichols, and the team is working on new features, including app verification.
