The Kusto Emulator was released in September 2022.  Encapsulating the Kusto Query Engine and making it available on local compute in a Docker Container.

Until now the Emulator was available as a Windows Contianer.  Today, we are excited to announce the availability of the Linux Kusto Emulator.

The Kusto Query Engine can now be run as a Linux Docker Container.  This makes it more portable, suiting a broader range of scenarios and also smaller which makes it substantially faster to start.

The Kusto Emulator was designed to enable local development and automated testing and is a free offering under the following license terms.

Automated testing can be done using the Kusto Emulator without provisioning an Azure Service and without connection to the internet. It can be an efficient way to use Kusto Query Engine for automated tests. Local development can be done without relying on an internet connection or a provisioned service.
