IBM has made its geospatial AI foundation model — built from NASA’s satellite data — openly available on Hugging Face

The watsonx.ai model is the largest geospatial model hosted on Hugging Face, and it “can analyze geospatial data up to four times faster than state-of-the-art deep-learning models,” IBM says.”

The move is aimed at increasing access to NASA satellite data and accelerating climate-related research. “The essential role of open-source technologies to accelerate critical areas of discovery such as climate change has never been clearer,” said Sriram Raghavan, Vice President, IBM Research AI.
