Azure Maps Gen1 (Standard S0 and Standard S1) Price Tier will be retired on 15 September 2026, please transition to Azure Maps Gen2 Price Tier by that date.

Gen2 Price Tier, which offers simplified pricing, better flexibility in accessing all Azure Maps features and supports higher QPS (Queries Per Second) limits, is the newest Azure Maps price tier and supersedes Gen1 Price Tier (Standard S0 and Standard S1).

On 14 September 2023 — Gen1 Price Tier will no longer be offered when creating new Azure Maps accounts nor will you be able to switch from Gen2 Price Tier to Gen1 Price Tier for existing Azure Maps accounts via Azure Portal.

On 12 October 2023 — Gen1 Price Tier will no longer be offered when creating new Azure Maps accounts nor will you be able to switch from Gen2 Price Tier to Gen1 Price Tier for existing Azure Maps accounts via an Azure Resource Manager (ARM) template.   

On 15 September 2026 — Azure Maps accounts using Gen1 Price Tier will be automatically upgraded to Gen2 Price Tier.   

Required action     

Please follow our instructions to use Gen2 Price Tier for new Azure Maps accounts being created via ARM templates by 12 October 2023 to avoid deployment disruptions, and for info on how to switch from Gen1 Price Tier to Gen2 Price Tier for existing Azure Maps accounts.
