Because Speech Services and the Speech SDK fully replace the Bing Speech API, Bing Speech will be retired as a standalone service on 3 November 2023. Your applications will no longer be able to access Bing Speech endpoints and subscription keys.

To continue providing speech recognition and translation capabilities in your current Bing Speech applications, you’ll need to migrate them to Speech Services and the Speech SDK no later than 3 November 2023. However, we encourage you to make the move sooner to gain the richer benefits of Speech Services and the Speech SDK, including:

  • Speech-to-text (speech recognition), intent, translation, and text-to-speech capabilities.
  • Batch transcription capability through a dedicated REST API.
  • A larger set of adaptable locales, new and more accurate models, and improved modes of interaction.

Beginning 3 November 2023, your applications will no longer be able to access Bing Speech endpoints and subscription keys.

Recommended action

Migrate your Bing Speech applications to Speech Services no later than 3 November 2023 to avoid disruptions to your applications and enjoy feature updates. To learn more about Speech Services and the Speech SDK, please visit our documentation.
