Hackathons are a keystone experience in tech, says Tiffany Long, involving specific expectations on the part of attendees. However, she notes, if you’re planning to host a hackathon, your organization should also have specific goals in mind.

In this article, Long shares a hackathon-planning checklist, along with other guidance “to help you identify your objectives, plan, manage the contest and compensation, share your results, and manage the long tail of the hackathon.”
