The LXD project is no longer part of the Linux Containers project and can now be found on Canonical’s own site, according to a recent statement on the Linux Containers website. 

Canonical has decided that the system container and virtual machine manager will be “better served directly under Canonical’s own set of projects,” the website says

Notably, the Linux Containers team expresses regret regarding the decision but says “it does respect Canonical’s decision and is now in the process of moving the project over.”
