Microsoft Dev Box is introducing several new capabilities to enhance developer experience and boost productivity. In addition, Dev Box general availability will begin in July.
New starter developer images in the Azure marketplace provide dev teams with ready-to-use images that can be customized further for specific dev team needs. These images are available today.
Developers can now view, manage, and spin up dev boxes for all their projects from a specialized developer portal. Developers can also use this portal to manage environments in Azure Deployment Environments. This feature is available today.
Dev teams will be able to further customize their dev boxes using configuration-as-code files in git source control to tailor base images from IT without needing support from admins. This feature is in preview.
