Azure Event Grid now supports publish-subscribe via MQTT v5, and v3.1.1. This enables bi-directional communication between MQTT clients such as IoT devices and cloud services, using the flexible MQTT topic structure. With MQTT broker functionality, Azure Event Grid allows for high scale broadcast for one-to-many messaging, as well as many-to-one and one-to-one messaging.

This release also adds flexibility regarding how Event Grid subscribers consume data. In addition to the existing support for push delivery, Event Grid now offers HTTP pull delivery of events. You can leverage Event Grid to build data pipelines with device data, integrate applications, and build event-driven serverless architectures.

This new functionality makes Event Grid a highly scalable, fully managed pub-sub message distribution service that offers flexible message consumption patterns using the MQTT and HTTP protocols.
